Unlike the Alesis format which uses one snake for both ins and outs, Tascam and Fostex digital multitracks employ a 25-pin D-Sub connector, and therefore require two snakes; one for the inputs and one for the outputs. For XLR connections, you'll need one with XLR-male, and one with XLR-female, which correspond to your console's XLR inputs and outputs.
