This is the shock mount for the JOEMEEK JM27. The mic is suspended in an elastic lattice. This isolates it from vibrations that could otherwise colour the sound. Very low frequency sounds, for example footsteps or the vibrations from a lorry passing outside, can be carried through the building's structure and up the mic stand. Using the suspension mount can help give a cleaner recording.
