• XLR Jacks - The female XLR is used for the input connection from a microphone. The male XLR is used for the output connection to a mixing console. The phantom DC voltage is blocked to the output to avoid the loud popping that occurs when plugging in equipment that is turned on.
  
• Power On/Off Switch & Power/Battery Sensor LED - When the power switch is in the ON position, the LED will illuminate if the batteries are supplying sufficient power to operate the unit (at least 13VDC to a microphone at 4mA). Replace the batteries if the LED fails to light when the On/Off switch is in the ON position.
  
• Battery Installation - A fresh set of alkaline batteries will provide approximately 50 hours of continuous operation at a constant 4mA load. To install or replace the batteries, loosen the thumbscrew located on the end of the unit. Depress the female XLR release button and swing open the hinged cover. Snap batteries into the holders, close the cover and tighten the thumbscrew. Always replace both batteries.
